It’s now officially known as Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, but the Chrysler name lives on in the Chrysler logo and badging. Originally based on the Kruessler family crest, the Chrysler seal emblem — mated with flanking wings in the 1930s — was meant to represent quality, hence the royal-style wax seal. In the ’50s, Chrysler employed what’s known as a “Jet Age” style log, with two chevrons superimposed onto one another, but it didn’t last long given its temporary trendiness. In 1962, Chrysler’s longstanding five-triangle “Pentastar” logo was created with the idea that it should be timeless and global. It was a logo that was easily identifiable and became synonymous with the ubiquitous K-Car and LeBaron. Then, in the ’90s, the Chrysler seal and wings returned, but with longer and wider wings. The Pentastar came back shortly thereafter, then disappeared forever from Chrysler cars in 2009, when a thin, wide and elegant winged badge took its place. After all the changes, it now looks like the wings are a permanent fixture in the Chrysler logo.

The Bentley emblem is quite elementary; the logo simply reflects two wings with letter “B” between them. Bentley’s emblem didn’t go across big changing much time; the designers simply tweaked logo a bit to hold in tune applying the modern designs. This letter “B” just stands for Bentley. These two wings around the letter B is a symbol of speed. Since the manufacturer was known for the power and speed, these qualities aptly symbolized in using the 2 wings. Today, the carmaker’s logo still keeps the classic appearance of the old vehicle logos and still there’s a specific feel of sophistication which makes it a well-known choice for everyone.

But Bentley has been created different logos for various car series. For example, the logo created for Bentley Brook lands was a “B” from which 2 wings were navigable in a backward state, as if the presented car or letter B is flying directly ahead. The meaning of this logo became ‘speed’. One of the charming cars of Bentley brand, so-called Bentley Continental GT became also symbolized for the car’s unique logo. In this case traditional Bentley emblem was used; nut the letter B became engraved in the vacant space, only the 2 middle balls of letter B were plated into the steel that’s why the overall texture consisted of a complete B. The automaker also used only letter B logo, surrounded in a steel stove, in its special output cars.

Carmakers love wings, and Aston Martin is no exception. The British carmaker was founded in 1913 by two gents, Lionel Martin and Robert Bamford. While they were selling Singer cars out of their Bamford & Martin shop, they came up with the idea to produce their own vehicles. Some years later, the name transitioned from Bamford & Martin to Aston Martin Motors, born from Martin’s name and the Aston Clinton Hillclimb in Buckinghamshire, where Martin would drive from time to time, no doubt spiritedly. The logo itself denotes speed (hence the wings), but it has evolved over the decades from simple superimposed A and M letters within a circle to, in 1927, a V-shaped winged logo and then, in 1987, to what is essentially the modern version. The emblem today employs straight wings and the Aston Martin name front and center, and it’s one of the more elegant brand emblems in existence today.

A car logo is like a sort of autograph of a car manufacturer, but the logo is even more symbolic and informative. One of the more original but simple modern automotive symbols out there, Nissan’s luxury brand utilizes a partial oval surrounding a road that narrows into the distance, or to…infinity. It’s a tasteful badge and, thankfully, it conveys an actual connected meaning between the brand name and the logo. There are few names in the automotive industry that carry as much panache and gravitas as the British manufacturer Bentley Motors. The emblem shows a bold “B” surrounded by a set of spread wings. The hood ornament is similar, with a large capital B and aviary wings that flow backward. The significance of the emblem is the “B” reflecting the Bentley name, after Walter Owen Bentley, who founded the company in 1919. The winged design links to the original company name, Bentley Aero; the company originally manufactured rotary engines for planes during World War I.

The Alfa Romeo logo is circular with a blue border containing the words ‘Alfa Romeo’. In the center are two heraldic symbols linked to the city of Milan, Italy, where the firm was founded. The red on white cross comes from the city’s emblem while the crowned serpent eating a Moor is a Biscione. The Biscione used to be set on a white background, but this was removed during an update to the logo in 2015. The type face was also changed.

The BMW logo is a circle with a black border containing the brand-name. The central area is divided into blue and white quarter circles, the colors of Bavaria, where the firm is based. The lettering and original design were inherited from the logo of the Rapp Motorenwerke aircraft firm from which BMW descends.

The Buick logo features three shields inside a circular border. It is a simplified version of an earlier Buick logo which featured the three shields in red, white and blue, with a deer head, sash and cross on each shield. Today just the sashes remain.

The Chrysler division logo features a winged design with ‘Chrysler’ in the center. This logo was introduced after the firm’s parent company, Chrysler, merged with Fiat.

The Corvette logo features two crossed flags. On the right is a black and white chequered flag like that used in racing. On the left, a red flag contains the logo of Chevrolet, Corvette’s parent company, and a fleur-de-lis which was on founder Louis Chevrolet’s family crest.

The Tesla logo is a stylized letter T which sits above the brand name in a mainly white on red color scheme. The exact meaning of the imagery is unknown, but it’s thought the way the T is drawn could represent a pole in an electric motor or a Tesla coil. It used to sit on a shield, and the bottom of the shield still forms part of the grille on the firm’s cars, underneath the logo.

The Volkswagen logo features the letters V and a W, one on top of the other, contained in a circle of the same width and set on a blue background. It was said to have been dreamt up by engineer Franz Reimspiess in an office competition to design a logo for the firm.
